If your going to read any of what I’ll be posting your going to want to get to know me a little. I’m Tiffany. I’ve always been intrigued by the business world and I’ve always wanted to make something of myself. I’m not quite there yet but I’m slowly finding my “feng shui”.
Most people seem to settle for their 8:00-5:00 job, babysitters Monday to Friday, coming home, getting food on the table getting the kids bathed, homework done, a little family time and then bed time. Once the kids are in bed mom and dad settle on the couch for an hour, watch the latest episode of house of cards and then bed themselves. I’ve lived this life and I know it’s not what I want. We all dream of being our own boss, not having to answer to anyone but ourselves, making our own money, and lots of it! But that’s exactly what it is.. a dream. So how exactly do we find our own personal “feng shui”? How do we become what we want to be, and how can we do this and be comfortable. Theres a few simple steps to doing so.
find yourself. Who are you? Do you like numbers, writing, music, science, or are you into what makes people feel good, like me. I went to university for 2 years and studied linguistics. Now mind you I love writing but studying the actual words that we put on paper was not my thing. I’ve always wanted to help people, but I wasn’t really sure how I could do that. I went out on a whim and decided to take a medical esthetics course and I found who I was. I’m that girl that always has her makeup done, nails painted and hair up ready to tackle any set of toe nails skin condition or forest you may have on your body. I’m that girl who can listen to any story and quietly nod my head and say, “I understand”, or “I feel your pain” or “yes she sounds terrible” and go about my day as if the conversation didn’t happen. That is a day in the life of an Esthetician. And it’s who I am.
So now that you know who you are, how can you make something of that person and realize your dream. Devise a plan. Find a way to make who you are what you truly want to be. In my case I decided I was going to open my own business. After hours of business research and planning, it seemed like it was the right thing to do.
Now the next step is where most people tend to fail. They stop at the dream stage they get nervous and the brakes come on. There’s no way they can actually turn a dream into reality. That’s why it’s called a dream, right? Wrong! This is where determination has to kick in. Something everyone says they have but only some really show it. Those some that show it, they’re the ones who really succeed. It’s all about your mindset and how you perceive things. Once you start letting people convince you what you really want is a bad idea, and it won’t work, and in turn you start doubting yourself that’s when you fail. Whatever you do, don’t let this happen. Keep chugging. Your the little engine that could and you know that this is what you want. It’s your life and no one can tell you otherwise.
Now i can’t sit here and boast about how rich I’ve become by following my dreams Because that would be the furthest thing from the truth. I can tell you however I did go ahead and open a business out of my home. It’s not where I would like to be but it’s a start. I’m in the middle of a mat leave right now and I’m hoping to be able to start working again very soon. There’s a bit of construction that has to be done first in order to make this possible. For the time being I do have a little something up my sleeve involving beauty from the inside out, but we’ll save that for another day.
I miss what I do. I miss making people happy and this is how I know this is what I was meant to do. This makes me realize you really don’t know what you have until it’s gone. I Had everything I could ever want in a job. No it wasn’t making me millions but it was a good cushion and I loved every second I spent with every client I had. Knowing how much I loved what I did for myself makes me wonder why others continue with their cookie cutter jobs when they know themselves there’s something out there for them. Something they really truly love. Something that will satisfy their needs and let them live in their own personal version of Feng Shui.
